Denmark holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU From 1 July to 31 December 2025. Under the slogan ‘A strong Europe in a changing world’, the Danish Presidency will focus on creating a secure, competitive, and green Europe.  

On 9 July, the European Migration Network published a comprehensive overview of asylum and migration trends in the EU, along with a Statistical Annex developed by Eurostat. This report provides an in-depth analysis of key developments in EU migration and asylum policy during 2024.

The EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, Diane Schmitt, and the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons, which was mandated by the UN General Assembly, discussed emerging trends, challenges, and priorities in a meeting aimed at improving coordination to combat human trafficking.

On 24 and 25 June, the 2025 edition of the Security Research Event (SRE) took place in Warsaw and gathered the security research community for discussions, outcomes demonstrations, achievements recognition and networking.

The 10th anniversary edition of the European Migration Forum will take place on 27 and 28 November in Brussels and it will focus on “Harnessing migrants’ skills in the EU”. Participation is on invitation only and the deadline for applications is 8 September 2025. 

Led by the Council of Europe Development Bank and boosted by EUR 3.5 million under AMIF, this innovative project demonstrates how creative financing and collaboration can facilitate the integration of non-EU nationals in EU Member States, enriching the social and economic fabric of host countries.

On 24 June, the Commission presented a Roadmap setting out the way forward to ensure law enforcement authorities in the EU have effective and lawful access to data. This is an important deliverable under ProtectEU – the EU’s Internal Security Strategy, presented by the Commission in April this year.

To help prepare new EU rules, the Commission wants to hear the views of stakeholders and citizens on the best response to organised crime. The call is open for feedback until 16 July 2025 (midnight Brussels time).
